Austin Outdoor Studio is a welding and fabrication shop that caters towards modern design for residential and commercial applications. We pride ourselves on our quality and craftsmanship. We’ve worked with some of the top builders and architects in town and have even completed large scale projects like the W Hotel that recently opened in Austin. AOS is a full service shop that can tackle just about anything you can throw at us. We use the latest in fabrication methods to build our projects. We utilize 3d design software to bring life to the project before any metal has been cut or welded. We also own and operate a 5′x8′ CNC plasma table allowing us to create almost anything we can draw or scan on the computer. AOS is a shop that employs craftsmen who love what they do and still believe in doing quality work.
A little about our craftsmen:
Jonathan Duke, Owner
The Fab Shop was founded by Jonathan Duke who has a BS in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Texas A&M, has been welding since he was 16, has restored a number of old school muscle cars and hot rods, and generally just loves getting his hands dirty. He has experience as a home builder here in Austin and has renovated a couple of modern homes. Jonathan has a working background in manufacturing engineering and construction.
Will Larson, Manager CNC Plasma Services, Designer, Project Manager
Will was born and raised in Austin, Texas in a family of artists. His formal art education began at the San Antonio Art Institute in 1988. He obtained his degree in Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute, and later finished his graduate studies in Braunschweig, Germany. He ran his own business, Willywerks for over ten years and has recently joined AOS. His creative back ground and fabrication experience in all mediums brings a wealth of knowledge to our shop. Will runs the CNC plasma side of the business, assists in design and generally helps out where ever he can.
Troy Lemon, Shop Manager, Welder Fabricator
Troy has been working in this industry for over 10 years and has probably built more railing than the rest of the shop combined. He studied welding at ACC and is always pushing himself and those around him to constantly improve. He works hard to own his projects from start to finish and strives to always delivers a high quality product.
Cliff McDonald, Welder and Fabricator
Cliff stepped into this shop and made a huge difference from day one. Aside from being an exceptional welder and fabricator with over 10 years experience, he always has a wonderful attitude. He is a walking encyclopedia about welding and truly loves what he does every day.
Michael Cantos-Busch, Welder Fabricator, CWI
Michael came all the way from Germany to work with us and definitely lives up to the saying “German Precision” He is a certified welding inspector, extremely meticulous, and his attitude is hard to beat. Michaels passion for producing an extremely high quality product is 2nd to none.
Alex Chernyshov, Welder Fabricator, Lead Installer
Alex joined our crew at the end of 2010 and has been an valuable part of our fabrication team ever since. He was born in Russia and has live in Austin since he was 16. He’s an excellent trouble shooter, efficient fabricator and probably can build a planter faster than anyone in Austin!
Matt Malchow, Metal Finisher, Installer, CNC Plasma Operator
Matt is our resident northerner from Wisconsin. Apparently up north they still believe in a honest days work and he shows that everyday. Matt comes from a family that embraces old world quality and craftmenship as his family runs a small business building timber frame homes. Matt’s background with homebuilding and remodeling bring a variety of skills to our shop.
